One of the truly amazing things about this group is that they've not had formal musical training. John Jeffers and Gary Brown are no slouches when it comes to their vocal offerings. Already seasoned for success, his voice is layered with wisdom well beyond his years. ![]() Lead singer Cody Cannon has a voice that could be likened to the sound of Gregg Allman lead singer of The Allman Brothers with a hint of Jon Bon Jovi and maybe a splash of lead singer of Guns n Roses, Axel Rose. Now on the verge of signing a contract with Smith Entertainment, their first album is set to be released in stores on July 15, all the while readying themselves to lay down tracks on a second album. "They've since have made leaps and bounds in their career opening for Roger Creager, The Eli Young Band and The Randy Roger Band just to name a notable few. Their humble beginnings in 2007 had them playing concerts for their friends and family on flatbed trailers. When the group found out that there was already a band named "Lucky Southern" in existence, the name "Whiskey Myers"emerged and became their new calling card. They were eventually joined by Cannon's cousin Gary Brown who plays Bass and long time friend Jeff Hogg on drums. Wanting to embark on becoming a band, in 2005 these guys began jamming at the homes of their friends and family, calling themselves "Lucky Southern". Cannon introduced Tate to his longtime friend John Jeffers of Palestine. Whiskey Myers arrived on the Country / Folk scene with the appearance of the album 'Stone' published on November 30, -0001. The Texas-based outfit formed in 2007 and currently consists of members Cody Cannon, Cody Tate, John Jeffers, Jeff Hogg, Tony Kent and Jamey Gleaves. Also in 2022, the band toured extensively across America with support from Read Southall, Shane Smith, 49 Winchester, Austin Meade, Jamestown Revival, Brent Cobb, Goodbye June and Drake White. Their previous 2019 self-titled album reached a career-best #1 on Billboard's Country chart and includes the popular single 'Gasoline'. on July 29th, 2022 via Wiggy Thump Records. Whiskey Myers released their sixth studio album 'Tornillo'. UPDATE: Tour dates have been extended into the summer visiting additional cities like Alexandria, Orange Beach, Nashville, Evansville, Columbia, Bend, Casper, Milwaukee and Duluth. Joining the tour on select dates will be special guests Rival Sons, Giovannie and the Hired Guns and The Weathered Souls. The 12-date tour takes place in February/March making stops in Knoxville, Tallahassee, Augusta, Savannah, Kalamazoo, Toledo, Johnstown, Saginaw, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Laughlin and Midland. Southern rock group Whiskey Myers will be hitting the road again in early 2023 promoting their latest album 'Tornillo'.
